Travertine is a “holey” stone

Travertine floors are a beautiful and versatile design element. It has naturally occurring holes sometimes filled and sometimes not — your choice. With time and use, the naturally occurring holes in travertine become exposed and fill with unsightly and unsanitary contaminants, diminishing the appearance of this unique natural stone. This can even happen to “filled” finish travertine, since wear and tear can loosen the fillings and expose the holes with the same result.

Add this issue to dirty grout lines and you get the sad story of what happened to the travertine floor you see in the BEFORE images. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending.

We filled the holes, cleaned the grout lines, and more…

Our special cleaning and honing process safely removes years of dirty build-up and restores travertine and grout lines, giving floors a natural, fresh look, and this floor was no exception. We filled in the holes with tinted epoxy and sealed the floor to inhibit staining. The owners were very pleased.
