What’s a listello?
A listello is a decorative border or trim piece found in stone and tile designs. Listellos are used to break the monotony of ordinary designs with some unexpected color or interest. Listellos come in a variety of shapes and sizes and may be found on backsplashes, walls, showers, tub surrounds, stair risers, and more.
The listello on this travertine floor
In this case, the listello is part of a travertine floor in Del Mar, CA. Unfortunately, listellos on floors tend to trap extra dirt and grime, as you can see in the BEFORE image. With periodic professional travertine services and regular cleaning, homeowners can have the best of both worlds — beautiful, decorative borders AND clean, inviting floors.
Our approach to cleaning listello
The technicians at Set In Stone have the knowledge and experience to safely restore natural stone floors with listello. We lightly honed, cleaned and sealed this floor with a solvent-based impregnating sealer, restoring it to like new, as you can see in the AFTER image.
