Deep Cleaning Granite

Granite cleaning processes vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt or oil being removed. Granite floors are easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using highly-effective cleaning solutions. Set-In-Stone Restoration can assist you in not only cleaning your granite surfaces, but in keeping your granite properly polished, maintained, and free of scratches to help make regular cleaning and care of your stone easier.

Granite Stain Removal

Most common stains on granite can be removed. Whether you are seeking guidance on how to do this yourself (refer to our Stain Management app) or want us to treat stains on your granite, the original color and finish of your granite can most usually be restored.

Granite Honing

Do your granite floors or granite countertops have dull or damaged areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etches or spots? Patriot Stone Restoration can hone your granite surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new granite surface free of damage. With our granite honing services, our expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

Granite Polishing

An uneven finish, dull spots, stains or etches can diminish the elegant appearance of your granite. Set-In-Stone Restoration can polish your granite using granite-specific equipment and supplies to restore the finish you want, whether matte, semi-gloss or gloss finish. With our granite polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve a beautiful, glass-like polish.

Granite Grinding/Flattening (Lippage Removal)

Are your tiles uneven? Do you want your granite tile floor flattened? Set-In-Stone Restoration can grind away the excess stone to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. Once flattened, the granite is honed and polished to the finish you want.

Sealing & Protecting

Your granite may need a little extra protection to protect it from staining.

Impregnating/Sealing Granite

Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. We may recommend that you have your granite sealed to enhance its stain resistance. We say, “may” because not all stone needs to be sealed. Highly polished stone may not even take an impregnating sealer. But, if sealing is recommended, know that sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against stain damage because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains.

How to Test If Your Stone Needs To Be Re-Sealed

Spill a few drops of water on several areas of your granite surface, especially where they get the most use. Allow the water to sit on the surface for a few minutes, then wipe it away. After a couple of seconds, if you see that the area where the water was remains darker, indicating that the water was absorbed into the stone, it’s time to re-seal.

Care & Cleaning

Some helpful tips:

  • Use a quality neutral cleaner on your stone surfaces.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Wipe up spills as soon as possible.
  • For countertops, use a cutting board for food prep.
  • Be sure to reseal as needed.

Does Granite Require Maintenance?

The short answer is yes, granite does require maintenance.  Regular cleaning with a stone safe cleaner is a great for simple day-to-day maintenance, but over time, floors can develop grout lines that just won’t come clean, shiny scratches, and increasingly obvious traffic patterns. Countertops can become scratched, dull and etched.

As these problems develop, you become more and more dissatisfied with the appearance of the floors or other granite surfaces until it’s time for another round of professional restoration. Ask us about customizing a regularly scheduled maintenance program to keep your granite looking great all the time, without the need for periodic restoration.
