Precision Repair For Marble Vanity

Client : Homeowner in San Diego
Info : Marble vanity top repaired and refinished

The Problem

San Diego homeowners called us to explain that a large section of their marble vanity top cracked at first, and then later broke off completely. They were worried that they would have to replace the stone.

What causes vanity top cracks and breaks?

Fabricators often use metal rods inside marble vanity tops around sinks. If the moisture barrier fails, the metal rods rust and expand. As a result, the stone eventually cracks or breaks. The good news is that most marble vanity top cracks and breaks can be repaired.

Our Precision Repair Process

First, we masked and protected the surrounding area and removed all the loose pieces of stone, setting them aside for reconstruction. Then, we removed the rusted metal rods and cleaned the sink substrate. Using epoxy and caulking, we reassembled the broken marble pieces. Once the epoxy was fully cured, we honed and polished the marble vanity top to restore the finish.

The homeowners were very pleased with the appearance of the repaired marble and greatly relieved with the significant cost savings compared to replacing the entire marble vanity top.
