The Problem:
After a less-than-reputable contractor had damaged the stone’s beautiful finish by attempting to remove lippage, the owners of this home in Jamul, CA applied a topical sealer to create a higher gloss and shine on their travertine floor. However, with time and use, the coating on the floor became discolored and began flaking, leaving the appearance of this travertine in very poor condition. The homeowners searched for an experienced stone restoration company to resolve the situation and gave us a call.
Our Solution:
First, our technicians removed the topical sealer using a stone-safe stripper. To correct the damage caused by the original installers, we honed the travertine and filled its holes with stained epoxy to blend with the surrounding colors. To give the floor a natural, glass-like polish, we used a polishing compound that achieves a high level of shine without coatings. We finished the job with a solvent-based, impregnating sealer to inhibit stains.
As you can see, comparing the before and after images, the quality of our work is second to none. We consistently produce dramatic results that exceed the expectations of our clients.
